Liner Notes:

"This was the last song I wrote for the album, and the last one we recorded for it too. It was recorded in a day at a studio in Wrexham (called The Windings), after making a last minute booking to see if we could better 'The Most To Gain' as the second album track. I remember sitting in the grey house, "in the zone", trying to come up with an original direction for the lyric. I'd vowed never to write a love song (...and I did mean it as well), but this, the 36th track we'd recorded so far became the first."

Lyrics

If I start this small debate

The center of the universe is up for sale

If my melody should fall

The tune is unimportant as I said before

Or should I say it was the words, I should

Standing in gray lantern light

Mavis looking sexy through her dress, it shines

Hiding in the vestry she recites her lines

(And she says)

I can't see you, I love you, I miss you

I can't see you, I love you, I do

If I feel God watching me

I control the actions of his destiny

If my sentiments ring true

Feel him in the mirror laughing back at you

For me to tell you how it seems, I would

Standing in gray lantern light

(I would) Mavis looking sexy through her dress, it shines

Hiding in the vestry she recites her lines

(And she says)

I can't see you, I love you, I miss you

I can't see you, I love you, I miss you

I can't see you, I love you, I do

If I start this small debate

The center of the universe is gone for sale

So my melody should fall

The tune is unimportant as I said before

Or should I say it was the words, I should

Standing in gray lantern light

(I should)

Mavis looking sexy through her dress, it shines

Hiding in the vestry she recites her lines

(And she says)

I can't see you, I love you, I miss you

I can't see you, I love you, I miss you

I can't see you, I love you, I do

I can't see you, I love you, I miss you

I can't see you, I love you, I miss you

I can't see you, I love you, I do
